AAAAAAUUUUUUUUUUGH.
Apartment hunting is driving me crazy. CRAZY!!! It's either too expensive, no parking, not in a good neighborhood, a more qualified tenant, etc etc etc. Grrr. I wish I had someone to live with (hint hint CATHY AVENIDO!!! :P i'm only half kidding though... miss you honey! mwah!) so I could get a 2 bedroom place instead, which would be so much cheaper. If I don't find anything soon, I just might end up with this studio... It's cozy (in other words, small) but it's cheap and it has a month to month lease, so if anything comes up, I can just move out and look for another place. Oh well. On to happier but less exciting things.
So I'm back! Work's kept me busy these past couple of weeks, and they definitely weren't kidding when they said there will ALWAYS be something for me to do, and it will surely be challenging. I've become a workaholic to the point that I actually worked at night, AND even asked Tom to help me out with advanced technical stuff. But all's good... I'm learning a lot from my company, and although it keeps me extremely busy at times, it's way better than my old job. It may not be the best job out there, or even the best job for me, but it's interesting and fun enough, and it pays the bills. Hahaha. What a sellout. In it for the money. Well, aren't we all? ;)
Oooh I just remembered that I had a pretty exciting weekend. So aside from work, I've been helping Tom move into his new place, I've been looking for my own place, and I've been helping Tom take care of the cat, named Kat. (I know i know, how original. But he wants to rename her now coz she's getting sooo fat... but we'll see.) But finally, after weeks and weeks of working our asses off (moving into a new place and looking for a place is no easy feat) we finally decided to take a weekend off to do something fun. So last Saturday, we went to the
Gilroy Garlic Festival which had
the yummiest garlic fries with crabmeat ever. Ever. Hands down. I wish there was a place in the city or nearby that had garlic fries like that, but sadly, it's only in the garlic festival. Oh well. But anyway, we had super yummy food like calamari with this garlic dip (almost as yummy as the garlic fries) and a bunch of other dishes that had tons of garlic. Needless to say, by the time we got home all we could taste and smell was garlic. We even stayed a bit for the Garlic Idol ( sounds weird right, I don't even remember if that's the right name) and the bazaar, but eventually the heat was too much we just decided to head home.
Speaking of the weather, we had the worst
heat wave in the history of the Bay Area. I kid you not. Approximately 132 people, young and old, passed away from the heat. Even I was walking around in a tank top and capri pants, wishing that I was wearing shorts instead. And that's a shocker, since all my close friends know I'm the most lamigin person around.
Sunday brought us to the movie theater, since I was dying to watch
John Tucker Must Die. It was a cute enough movie, hot guys and hot girls, but of all the chick flicks I dragged him to, I'd say that movie was part of the bottom 3. (Along with Antonio Banderas'
Take the Lead and... hmm. Okay fine, bottom 2 then. It's not that the movies were bad, it's just that they're the kind of movies I'd rather watch at home. Trivia, the
pinoy dude in the movie is the cousin of my coworker. Betcha didn't know he was filipino... but he is, and I find him really cute. I love guys who can dance. End of trivia.) But Sunday wasn't a bad day... far from it actually. Because guess what my pre birthday gift for Tom was? One of my gifts anyway, since it's not even his birthday yet. I got him tickets to see
Dave Chappelle at the
Punchline! Before sunday, I knew of Dave Chappelle, but I never watched a single show (not counting the DVD Tom MADE me watch after finding out I got tickets) or sketch by him. But after sunday, man, he is sooooo funny! I'm a fan! I swear, I've never really watched stand up comedy shows before, thinking that it's going to be corny, I won't get the jokes and I won't have fun. But comedy shows are fun! I enjoyed the opening acts, and I totally enjoyed Dave Chappelle's act. It wasn't even an act, more of a dialogue with the audience. Did you know he's married to a filipina? He said he's had enough of a-dough-bough, and puhn-sit (adobo and pansit!). Anyway. It was such a perfect way to end the weekend, it was great.
And we have a bunch of stuff to look forward to this month, with his cousin's wedding, and my company outing Tahoe weekend, and we also have tickets to see
A Chorus Line 2 weeks from now. And of course, Cathy and Nico's visit! I can't wait!
Oh and guess what! I'm going home next year again, late March to mid April. :) See y'all then!
Oh and can I just share. 2 people actually though that I grew up in the South, because apparently, my accent sounds Southern. Not the y'all Southern, but more of Iowa. Not that I even know what that sounds like, but I swear, that's what one of my coworkers told me. One even asked if my English teacher was a Southerner. I'm like, wtf?? Since when did a pinoy accent sound Southern??? Hahahaha wala lang, funny.
