Hernan.
So I went around the bay area today. I had this job interview in emeryville that took me all the way to the east bay area, then i had to go back to embarcadero for this job fair i attended. I had sooo much fun! Since I don't have a car yet, I took the BART (bay area rapid transit? transport? train? something.) all the way, and i had a lot of fun watching people, listening to their conversations and wala, just plain people-watching. I really like the culture here, people are very friendly to each other, especially fellow pinoys. On the way home since I got to the colma bart at around 830, I had to take a taxi coz the last bus to my place left at 730. I really really didn't want to take the taxi coz it was late, and i didn't know the way home, and i was worried that i didn't have enough money but thank you thank you Lord that the driver i got was this very nice pinoy named Hernan. At first I didn't know, I just entered the taxi and said in a "I-know-where-I'm-going" voice the address of my tito's place. After a while i noticed his accent and skin tone, so i asked him pinoy po ba kayo? And he was! So we started chatting about filipino's here in the states, how we're treated, news about life back home, the usual. And well, can i just say that God is really watching out for me because i honestly didn't know where i was going and i was really planning to rely on the driver to take me wherever. Thank God even if Hernan didn't know the way, he knew the area and we figured out how to get to the house. And he didn't even charge me full price! Hay I'm so glad I'm pinoy. And I'm so glad that there are still people out there as nice as him. Yahoo! It was such a nice way to end my happy day. I like today. I liked traveling, walking around the city, meeting new people. I was also able to set up more job interviews, and things are really looking up for me here. And the compensation and benefits...! Yahoo is all i can say.
And guess what!! I met a latino dude... a very cute one at that. Wala lang. I might see him again coz I applied in the place where he works hehehe. Maybe the one thing that i really like now about living in the states is that you get to meet all sorts of people, not only from different walks of life but from different cultures as well. They're all just so interesting, the Chinese lady beside me during the job fair, the african-american man beside me during the train, the caucasian dude who talked to me about his company, and this european woman who interviewed me this afternoon. I'm overwhelmed by my experiences today. Hay. It's been only about 4 days and already I'm loving it here... I hope this isn't some honeymoon period that will wear off after a while. I mean, i know eventually the novelty of living here might or will wear off, but there are sooo many things i haven't done yet, hay i can't wait. I can't wait to create my life here... and live it.
Wanna see where i went today? Here's a BART map. I started in Embarcadero, went to MacArthur's Station (but emeryville is about 15 minutes away from MacArthur coz i had to take this emery-go-round bus to the building where i had my interview), went back to Embarcadero then finally went to Colma. From Colma was a 20-30 minute taxi ride going home.
